Food

You’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a million times:

You need to be smart about what you put into your body

You cannot thrive in life if you are not taking care of your body, and that starts with what you eat.

I will be the first to tell you, that this is not my strong point. I really struggle making healthy choices when it comes to food. I am getting more consistent on making healthy choices, but still have days at a time that I find that task to be very difficult.

Check out the all the things I try to stay healthy on the inside.

Shakeology

Every. Damn. Day

You can find me drinking these shakes. Which means that Every. Damn. Day. I am making the decision to put something good in my body.

Shakeology is a science-backed, superfood nutrition shake that can take the place of a meal each day. It comes in a variety of flavors, and thanks to millions of other users in the world, the list of recipes for different shakes is endless.

Many people see the price and say “no way”, without realizing that each serving is a full meal AND costs less than a Starbucks coffee.

What could it hurt to try it?

Pinterest

Without a doubt, I would be on the struggle bus trying to eat healthy if it weren’t for Pinterest. I have spent a lot of time finding recipes and articles to help me understand what I need to put in my body to get the most out of it.

A major bump in the road on my journey of eating healthy is the fact that I am the pickiest eater. Although, in recent years, I have tried (and liked) more and more foods, I still have a very limited menu of what I’m willing to eat.

If you follow my Pinterest boards, I hope you find some inspiration to try some different meals! And, PLEASE, feel free to send me some recipes that you think I should try.

**NOTE 1 – none, and I can not stress this enough…. NONE of these recipes are mine. Do not give me any credit.

**NOTE 2 – Due to me being the pickiest of eaters alive, a lot of the recipes I find, I substitute or get rid of what I don’t like. If you find a recipe that I have pinned too bland or does not have enough fruits/veggies, you can always add to them!

**NOTE 3 – If you actually look at my meal plan, you will see there are times/days that I don’t have much planned based on what our weeks look like. Don’t be discouraged! If you follow my Pinterest, you will find other recipes that you can try if you aren’t sure what to follow.

Picky Eaters

Here are some things I have tried as a picky eater to help me incorporate more vegetables into my diet. I’m still working on the fruit, but this is a good start!

Meal Plan for the Week

Here’s a look at my meal plan for the week. AND if I am using any recipes throughout the week from Pinterest, I’ll put them on the board!

Healthy Snacks/Desserts

I was never much of a snacker until I started trying to eat healthy… then I craved snacks all the time! Here are some healthy options for snack (and dessert!) cravings!

** My meal planning does not currently follow a diet or a researched plan. I plan my meals ahead of time to attempt to stay on schedule and keep from being unprepared. I’ve noticed that when I’m unprepared, that is when I am more likely to make SUPER unhealthy (and costly) decisions like getting fast food.

Eventually, I would like to follow a science based plan. But for now, I’ll just plan the way that best suits my family’s schedule and lifestyle.
