How to Win Prime Days

“I’m not going to partake in Prime Days.”

Lies I tell my husband and myself.

And a silly lie at that. For the past 8 years, Amazon has graciously offered two days of deals for their Prime subscribers. Not even just deals… they’re steals. Why would anyone say something so bogus as, “I’m not going to take part in this”?

As an Amazon Associate, I’ve been getting emails for weeks about upcoming deals. Of course, being the avid Amazon shopper that I am, I’ve been checking them out and comparing them to some of the prices certain items have had before. And guess what? They really are marking them down. Contrary to my husband’s beliefs that they just say they drop the prices; they are actually doing it. ON MILLIONS OF ITEMS.

I’ve been scouring the website for weeks and I have already made a list of things that I am interested in purchasing. It’s a good idea to do that ahead of time, so that you don’t feel rushed and pressured when searching during the two-day event.

Keep reading for tips on how to make shopping easier and for items I think you might like.

Shopping Tips

1. Get Ready

First and foremost, you need to make sure you are a Prime Member. Not only can you not get ANY of these deals without being a Prime member, but you’re also missing out on quicker shipping times, music and video streaming, and discounts at Whole Foods.

Prime is $14.99 a month, but there is currently a deal for Qualifying Government Assistant Programs that offers Prime for $6.99 for recipients. Whether you qualify or not, it’s a pretty good deal to get some pretty amazing deals!

2. Get Set

Next, you should create a list. There are many types of lists that you can make on Amazon (Wedding Registry, Baby Registry, Grocery list, etc) and if you’re anything like me, you’ll use this function all the time. I like to create a list ahead of Prime Days for many reasons, but ultimately, I just like being prepared. I could spend HOURS on Amazon just looking at things I might need. But, if I create the list ahead of time, I’ve already decided what I do and don’t want, and it’s all in one place, ready to be added to my cart.

To create a list on your Amazon App, find the three lines at the bottom right of the screen.

Then you will scroll to the “Your Stuff” tile, and then scroll again until you find the “Lists” tab.

Click on lists. Title it whatever you want (ie. Prime Day list), and start adding products!

3. GO!

Once the days have finally come, start adding things from your list to your cart. It is important to not have the items in your cart before Prime Days start, because certain items will be on a lightning deal – a 15 minute deal in which items are extra, extra discounted. Once the item is in your cart, you only have 15 minutes to check out with the deal still in place.

This is why making the list ahead of time is nice, because you won’t miss out on a lightning deal while you’re still perusing through all that Amazon has to offer!

Items Worth Looking At

Alright, now that you’re prepared to shop, and you’ve started adding things to your list that you think you need… Let me show you some things you maybe didn’t know you needed.

If you like anything, ADD IT TO YOUR LIST!!

This Ring Alarm 14 Piece Kit has all you need to get started protecting your house. The kit includes the one base station, two keypads, 8 contact sensors for windows and doors, two motion detectors and one Range Extender. This system works with Alexa! If you don’t have Ring yet, it costs $20 a month for 24/7 monitoring!

The Twist Memory Foam Travel Pillow is probably the most genius design for a travel pillow… ever. The ability to twist this thing around to accommodate your needs – like needing to lean up against a car window, but not wanting to rest your face on the glass.

How cute is this mini fridge from Frigidaire? And, it’s absolutely perfect for dorm rooms, offices, classrooms, or even bedrooms. It comes in 6 different colors and is currently about 40% off! (only applies to select colors)

While we’re on the topic of Frigidaire products, how about this ice maker? Not just any ice maker… it makes the NUGGETS (aka the best ice that’s ever iced). It’s small enough to sit atop your countertop and can make 44 lbs of ice in a day!

Most people suck at drinking water. (Not me, I love water). People have all these fancy water bottles and still get no where close to drinking the recommended daily amount. But, could you ignore a water bottle that starts flashing at you when it’s time to take a drink? I think not. Check it out here.

Seems like an oxymoron to have smart dumbbells, but here we are. These NordicTrack adjustable dumbbells adjust from 5 – 50 lbs and eliminate the mess that comes with needing multiple different weights options as you get stronger. They also work with Alexa, so you can tell them to adjust while you’re taking a sip of water between sets (you know, because your flashing water bottle told you it was time).

I just bought this a few weeks ago because I just want to lay around outside, but I’m terrified to lay in the grass because there might be snakes. I also don’t have two trees in my yard to hang a traditional hammock.. So I was pretty pumped to find this free standing one! Comes in a variety of covers is simply to wash!

This Aloe Vera Gel has 66,000 reviews (73% of those are 5 star reviews) raving about this sunburn relief gel. Users also talk about using it as a part of their daily moisturizing routine AND to help relief dandruff!

On the topic of skin care, Tend Skin has been my go to FOR YEARS when it comes to reducing the appearance of ingrown hairs and razor bumps. This is an absolute must-have for everyone.

Whether you buy any of my suggestions or not, I hope that you take advantage of the awesome deals that Amazon is offering next week! Chances are, you’re going to buy those items at some point anyway… might as well do it when you’re going to save some money!

Happy shopping, my friends 🙂
